Community Involvement

Dear Charlton Heston Academy Parents and Community Members:

As you know, CHA has implemented a challenging educational program that includes a rigorous curriculum, and extended school day, and enrichment block, three meals, and three elective courses.  In an effort to promote parent and community partnerships, and further foster a structured and opportunistic environment CHA is welcoming volunteers to assist at the building.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at CHA and were not able to attend the Parent and Community Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, October 18, 2012, here is an update:

The orientation was held to discuss the volunteer program, engage prospective volunteers on their interests, and explain CHA operations relative to the program.  If interested in volunteering at the Academy please read the attached Parent Involvement Policy and complete the application materials.  The Academy will receive applications at the Main Office and background checks will be completed thereafter.  Once background checks are cleared volunteers will be contacted when  volunteer opportunity arises that matches the respective interest(s).

Please understand the Academy will continue to expand and diversify how parents are able to be involved in their child’s education.  The difference between being “involved” and “volunteering” is “volunteering” will allow parents and community members to work with students, operations, and relative activities with indirect supervision.

We appreciate your continued support and remain committed to school and parent/community relations.

Sincerely,

Mr. David Patterson
